Working from home, and living by myself during lockdown, I used to go out just before dawn and come back with the dark, just before the curfew. When the city lights were on, I’d walk on the sidewalk see the trees’ shadows on the ground. Those shadows would disappear the day after with the day-light, and then back again in the night. This made me smile, as if the trees were playing hide-and-seek with us pedestrians. Also, I sadly noticed how much trees in the CBD are overlooked. I perceive them as fragile and overworked, having to absorb all the smog produced by cars. Pedestrians do not look much at them up there, being them often with their head down on the phone.
